Photos of Tadley, our sister website which had over 600 photos of Tadley from the early 1900s through to the present day, has been inaccessible for some time. Unfortunately, TADS does not manage the site and has no indication of when it might be up and running again.
The site was very popular. From comments we have seen on other similar websites, people are very interested in photos of places they were brought up, in particularly when they’ve changed a great deal.
To fill the gap, TADS is introducing its own section devoted to historic photographs of Tadley and the surrounding area.
We are starting with the collection of Barry Howard’s photographs of Tadley in the 1960s and 1970s, which were featured on the TADS 2020 calendar.
TADS is hoping that Barry’s photographs will prompt others to contribute their historical photographs of Tadley. There must be hundreds of them, lying in attics and albums and scanning them is so easy these days. Even photographs that are five years old are interesting, as it is amazing how quickly the area changes.
TADS welcomes submissions. For information on how to submit photographs for inclusion in the section, please email TADS (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Tadley during the ’60s and ’70s
A selection of photographs (with comments) taken in the 1960s and 1970s by Barry Howard.
David Rose’s photographs
David was born in Tadley in 1937 and his grandparents were Kimbers and Wests. He has a lot of family photographs from Tadley and of which a selection are reproduced here. His mother played piano for Tadley Band and has named most of the musicians in the Tadley Band photos he has. My uncle was Ernie Kimber.
